Here's What Is Happening During January...

1st

Polar Bear Plunge in Phillips
10 AM - 3 PM, Harbor View [1904 N Lake Street Phillips WI]

Ring in the new year with an icy dip!  Join us for the annual Polar Bear Plunge at Harbor View in Phillips, raise money to support mentoring in the Northwoods, and start the New Year off with a splash!  Registration begins at 10am with the first jump at 1pm.  All you need to do is register, collect pledges, and have some fun!  There are prizes for best costume and top fundraiser along with some great raffle prizes.  Download a brochure or register online to get started!

Learn to Snowshoe
1 - 3 PM, Willow River State Park Nature Center [1034 County Highway A Hudson]

Join us from 1:00 to 3:00pm p.m. at the Willow River State Park for a Learn to Snowshoe class.  After the first few steps along the guided trail you will be on your way to this fun outdoor activity.  Bring your own snowshoes or borrow one of our limited pairs.  We'll have complimentary hot cider and cocoa available along with a bonfire.  To reserve a pair of snowshoes please email wrsnowshoe@gmail.com or call 715-386-9340.  This event is made possible by the Friends of Willow River and Kinnickinnic State Parks Inc.  This event is FREE to attend, but vehicle admission to the park is required.  Matches should meet at the Nature Center at Willow River State Park. Please RSVP by December 31st to molly.anderson@bbbsnw.org or call 715-381-7289.  (This event is sponsored by Mentors in Motion but is open to all Community-Based matches.)

Ice Fishing
12 - 4 PM, Glen Loch Reservoir Chippewa Falls

Have you wanted to try ice fishing but you don't have the equipment? You're in luck! As part of the DNR free ice fishing weekend the Chippewa Valley YMCA is hosting an ice fishing event for matches at the Glen Loch Reservoir in Chippewa Falls.  They'll have the equipment, all you need is the warm clothes. Zumba
2 - 3 PM, Eau Claire YMCA

Want to give Zumba a try?  This class is specifically designed for beginners and is for Bigs, Littles, and families.  Come on down to the Eau Claire YMCA for a high energy and motivating workout to Latin and International music.  It includes unique dance moves that are fun and easy to do.  Space is limited and is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.  So RSVP NOW to info@bbbsnw.org.  Note: this class is held in the smaller fitness center building across the street from the main Y.
